Meet our Welfare & Safeguarding Team
Who is responsible for safeguarding?
Safeguarding at NKC Tonbridge College is led by:
- Racheal Moore - Assistant Principal, Teaching, Learning and Student Services (Senior DSL)
- Rebecca Skinner - Head of Welfare and Safeguarding (DSL)
- Koya Bakarey - Deputy Head of Welfare and Safeguarding (DDSL)
Together, they promote a strong safeguarding culture across the NKC Group, ensuring that students and staff are supported in a safe learning environment.
Safeguarding is everyone's responsibility. All staff are trained to recognise and respond to safeguarding concerns, follow the College's safeguarding procedures, and complete regular safeguarding training and updates to keep their knowledge current.

How does NKC Tonbridge College promote British Values?

Prevent and Radicalisation
What is Prevent?
Prevent is part of the UK Government's counter-terrorism strategy. Its aim is to safeguard people who may be vulnerable to being drawn into terrorism or extremist ideologies.
As part of Prevent, the Channel programme provides early support for individuals who may be at risk of radicalisation. This safeguarding approach helps people access appropriate support before concerns escalate.
At NKC Tonbridge College, we are committed to protecting students from all forms of extremism, including religious extremism, far-right extremism, animal rights extremism and other forms of extremist ideology.
What are the signs of radicalisation?
The signs of radicalisation vary from person to person and do not necessarily mean someone is being radicalised. However, changes in behaviour that may indicate someone needs support include:
- Significant changes in behaviour or personality
- Withdrawing from friends, family or usual activities
- Expressing increasingly extreme or intolerant views
- Showing support for extremist groups or ideologies
- Accessing or sharing extremist content online or communicating with extremist groups
If you are concerned about someone, it is important to seek advice rather than make assumptions.
How do I report concerns about radicalisation?
If you are worried that someone may be at risk of radicalisation, you can:
- Speak to your tutor or any member of staff at NKC Tonbridge College.
- Contact the College's Safeguarding Team for advice and support.
- Report concerns using the organisations below where appropriate.
